Oh, falafel. You delicious ball of chickpea, how I adore thee. And especially if you're slightly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Today I got lunch from Pita Pocket, a somewhat new falafel and shawarma nook (yes, it's very nook-ish because it's teeny tiny and it appeared out of nowhere in closet-like space on 12th and University). And they have DELICIOUS and cheap falafel. I think it perhaps might just be slightly better than the other falafel place I like, Rainbow Falafel & Shawarma, on 17th between Broadway and Fifth. Rainbow is also another nookish closet that, during lunchtime, has a MASSIVE line running out the door and down the sidewalk. But the falafel platter at Pita Pocket is cheaper! It's only $5.99, and Rainbow's is at least $7.50. So much food for so cheap! The falafel is dark and a little crunchy on the outside, and soft, herby and spicy on the inside. *drool*

mmm, I love the spiciness and crispiness and yumminess of falafel, too. I would love to learn how to make them at home...I find the prepackaged mix quite salty...but pita places usually make them SO good! :)
i used to eat at the place on 17th on my lunch. it is good! i always get balkava (sp?) as well!
wow I'm def gonna have a falafal for lunch after reading this! isn't Pita Pocket a chain? It sounds familiar...
